Residential Solar Energy is Becoming More Popular
By: Ryan Narendra
With all the talk about global warming these days,
residential solar energy is becoming more popular than ever. People are becoming more aware that the type of energy they use to operate their houses can affect the environment around them. Most of the energy that we have used down through history pollutes the environment. Even electricity was usually created burning fossil fuels.
Today we need to start conserving our fossil fuels, so more and more people are starting to
turn to alternative methods for providing power for their homes. Many people are finding that using
solar power is the answer for them it just might be the answer for you too. You can have panels installed to your roof to help generate power for your house. This is only part of what
residential solar energy does. It
can also be used to heat the water for your hot water needs, heat your pool, and even run some of your hand-held devices such as calculators. There are even solar chargers to charge other devices you may have.
You can actually live totally off the grid with
residential solar energy if you need to. You may have to adjust your lifestyle to go totally off the grid though especially if you are used to over-using energy. Solar does work for this but you still have to use conservation steps to make it as efficient as it can be. If you stay hooked to the grid though and
produce more power than you use, in some places you can actually sell the excess power to the utility companies. This way you can actually run a negative balance on your account to dip into when needed.
Not all people have to live off the grid so it is nice to know that this works in a regular subdivision too. Solar is quiet and will not bother the neighbours. In fact, they probably won't even be aware of you having it, unless they notice the panels on the roof.
Wind power would be a bit more noticeable in a neighbourhood due to the turbines.
Solar can be combined with wind power too. This really works great for living off the grid too. They can help each other provide you the power needed to run your house. People that have farms or just living out away from everyone would be ideal for being off the grid.
Using residential solar energy can save anywhere from about one-third to over three-quarters of you power bill, depending on how extensive your setup is. This is quite a savings; just think of how much that will help you pay your other bills. This type of energy also leaves no carbon footprint to harm the earth either.
So if you have not already started using
the sun's energy to benefit you hook into residential solar power today. Start being part of the solution to the energy crisis instead of part of why the crisis is happening. You will be able to afford the energy you use easier while it being cleaner too. You will be doing something good for the earth too.
