Turn Your Home into a Solar Energy House

Does your home need to run on sunshine? Many homeowners are doing just that today! They are running their homes using solar energy. This makes their energy cost less and is much cleaner to use too and does not hurt our atmosphere with greenhouse gases. So this is something for you to find out about, to decide if you want a solar energy house.

Examine your house first and see all the areas where it can benefit from hooking up a solar energy system. Do you have a pool that needs heating? This is an easy one for solar to handle. You can definitely be free from the grid power.

Do you just want to heat your hot water for your house so that you can see and learn how solar works. This is easy too in fact you might be able to do this yourself. If you like doing projects with your hands you probably can learn how to do this one. This lowers you power bills substantially. This can be the first step to having a solar energy house.

The above two projects do not take an extreme amount of funds to do either. For a few thousand dollars you can heat your pool or have a solar hot water heater. If you don't have much money to spend and you want to try the solar these would be good first steps to take. You can easily expand as you have the money and wind up having a full solar energy house.

Now if your house is situated right you can have a full solar power system installed. This would not only include the solar thermal application for heating water but also for heating your house. Then you also have the solar panels that will be installed usually on your house's roof that will collect the sunshine and generate electricity for you. This electricity in raw form though is in DC current and has to go through a converter box, and converted into AC current that your house can then use. There is battery storage so that you can have electricity at night too. This will be what makes your house into a complete solar energy house.

You do need to understand that going solar is not a slam dunk as far as you being able to use all the power you wish to use. Solar works the best when you watch your energy use and try to conserve wherever possible. This is even more important if you want to be totally off the grid. When you do this you are not hooked into the power grid at all and just run on solar power. You do have the option of staying connected to the grid though and in some areas if you produce more power than you use, you can sell the unused portion back to the grid. This means you not only don't have a power bill but that you can have a credit reserve to draw on when you need to use the grid energy.

So whether you use solar to take the load off an existing service or want to go off the grid, this is a great renewable energy source. It is a non-polluting source for your energy usage while saving you money too. So look into having a solar energy house today!
